Brow and Forehead Lift Surgery in Toowoomba
If you are unhappy with wrinkled, sagging skin on the forehead or heavy-looking eyebrows that weigh down your face, a brow and forehead lift may be for you. Brow and forehead lifts can open up the eyes, improve the brow’s natural curve, smooth forehead wrinkles, and correct sagging or uneven brows. If your brows are low enough to impede your vision, an eyebrow lift may also improve your field of vision and quality of life.
Eligibility for brow and forehead lift surgery
You may be eligible for an eyebrow and forehead lift if you have low, sagging eyebrows which make you appear angry, tired, or sad.
A small incision is made a few centimetres behind the hairline and dissection is made at the level of the bone down to the eyebrows to release the excess skin from the scalp. Excess tissue is redistributed upwards or removed to smooth out unwanted furrows and deep forehead lines.
Unlike an eyelid reduction, an eyebrow lift can reduce crow’s feet and deep lines at the root of your nose. However, the procedure is not suited to treating loose and drooping skin specifically in the eye area. If you wish to address concerns in that area, you may opt for an eyelid reduction or eye lift instead of (or in addition to) a brow lift.
What can I expect from my brow and forehead lift surgery?
Most people spend 1-2 hours in surgery for a brow and forehead lift, though some approaches take as little as 30 minutes. You can usually go home on the day of the procedure, provided you have someone to drive you home, as you will not be able to drive yourself after the anaesthetic and surgery.
Results are a little different for everyone, and your surgeon will walk you through the aesthetic outcomes you can expect when deciding if the procedure is right for you. Some approaches – such as a hairline brow lift – can lower a high or receding hairline in addition to rejuvenating the forehead. Remember that, while a brow lift may make you look younger, it does not stop the clock on ageing; your skin will continue losing elasticity as you age, and your brows may begin to droop in the future.
A brow lift will leave scars. Your surgeon will ensure these are as small and unnoticeable as possible, but you may wish to change your hairstyle to cover the surgical lines – your doctor will indicate where your scars will likely sit, and you may consult with a hairdresser independently as desired.
You will need to rest with your head elevated while recovering to help reduce swelling. Sleep in a recliner or propped up with pillows in bed and apply cold packs to the face periodically to maximise your comfort. Some swelling and bruising is common and usually clear in 7–10 days, though you will need to avoid vigorous activities and straining for 2–3 weeks longer.
